Huambo in brief

We reached again that time of the year when people needs to walk long distances to get water…The wells are dry, the streams become a crowd of basins and buckets, everybody trying to get a bit of the precious liquid…
We wish the search for God would be like this desperate search for water! We wish the search for the Word would be a primary need, as the water is!
It is funny how we don’t value the water so much when we have it abounding in out taps! But when it is not found in our basins, at our bathrooms, on our plants, that are getting dried, we realize how precious the water is!
May we not be like that with God: Get confortable with the fact that he is always there and not let be in awe every day for the blessing of knowing that he is our first need!

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL – DTS- At this school we have 5 students:
Augusto, Elias (above). Osorio, Carol and Manuel. They represent five denominations and only Elias is from Huambo. This DTS has been unique, since we see that the work of God in them has been and will be great! They had three month lecture phase, had various teachers that talked taught about Knowledge of God, His Word, Spiritual Warfare and others. During these two months they will be traveling to Kunene, where they will be serving our team there working with the tribes Himba and Dimba for ten days. From there they will go to Menongue, where one team, led by Maria da Conceicao (Sao) will be serving the Igreja Assembleia de Deus Pentecostal for six weeks.
The other team, led by Iury Hermegildo (Gildo) will be traveling to Cuito-Cuanavale, where they will be serving the Igreja Ev. Baptista also for six weeks. We ask for your prayers for them and may they be vessels in God’s hands to many people’s salvation.

Elias is 29 years old. He was a soldier for five years and left the army very frustrated. He lost good part of his thinking hability because of drug and alcohol abuse. However he is humble and willing to learn. He grew a lot spiritually and has been showing a gift on child evangelism. When we think of what he was in the past, it is hard to believe that he has love and patience with children and all of us here! God has really given us the ministry of reconciliation ( 2 Cor 5:18) Be faithful to God and His Word and re-gain the time he lost when he was far from God are his goals for the future. We praise the Lord for this life being restored.

BUILDING – It has been a great joy to be able to enjoy all we could already build: dorms, kitchen, guest house, staff house.. Each one of these buildings is a blessing for us and part of a whole we keep on dreaming of. This year we still plan to build an office. We need a miracle, though, since the cement and building material are rare as well as the builders…
SUPPORT FOR THE CHURCH - One of our goals as a mission is to equip the church. We have had many opportunities in this area and invitations come from all sides for us to speak on meetings, recreation activities, seminars and even to speak on Sundays services, week services and Sunday School. We have see we have been influence on various ways and we are glad to be able to serve the church.

STAFF ON SPOT: MARIA DA CONCEICAO (Sao)
She is 28 years old and did her DTS on 1998. She is a member of Igreja ICEA, from Luanda and her passion is Training. She has many gifts, among them the gift of loving people, being a good administrator and excellent cook!
One of her objectives is to improve her English skills in South Africa next year and use the language as a tool for Evangelism and Discipleship.

...”OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.” – We had a very special time with the neighborhood children while the DTS was in their lecture phase. Every Saturday we had more than 70 children coming for a time of worship, Bible stories and a lot of playing. They were challenged to receive jesus as their Saviour and follow Him and it has been good to hear tham singing the songs they learned here in the streets and talking about the stories they learned from the “aunties” and “uncles” from YWAM!

SCHOOL OF RURAL EVANGELISTS - It was a great joy for the 38 evangelists to receive their “Kinga 4x4”bicycle ! It’s a Chinese bicycle, very strong and will facilitate the evangelists working at the rural areas, where the access is difficult and the only means of transportation available is the bicycle. We have heard good news about their work after they had done the training. Praised be God!

NEWS FROM THE TRIBES –
Our brothers and sisters working among the tribes Himba and Dimba are very happy. The chief of the Dimba people received Jesus as His Saviour, what has influenced the conversion of other men in the tribe. Most of the converted people there are women, so the king’s conversion is a great step to have men being saved too. The team says that when discipling the king, his great concern and ost interest is how to solve his village problems without using witchcraft. We must pray for him.
Also in Kamukuio, our team there has been blessed with a property where they are going to build the Training Center. It is a very strategic 3 hectare property, where classrooms for adult literacy, a health clinic and a vocational training Center will be built to serve the people living in that area. Our missionary living there, Inacio Fio, was appointed to be the vice-director for the Government Community Development Department and we trust the Lord is going to use hi in great way to be an influence in the government.
Among the Mukubal people, led by missionary Sebastiao, he has made difference among this people. He has learned the language and the culture of this people, so primitive and uninterested for modernity! Witchdoctors have been challenging him, but the demons have no authorization to act when Sebastiao is around!
His goal is to start with evangelism now that he knows the language and knows their customs. Let’s pray for him!

Prayer requests:
-for the DTS outreach phase (students and staff, health, provision , annointing);
-for staff, specially for child evangelism and training; visas for brazilians and other nations;
-financial support for the ministry and building, as well as builders, plumbers and electricians;
-churches that are commited with the truth and the missionary work;
- for the mission maintenance:
• a 20kva generator;
• a 2 inch water pump;
• A computer with multimedia;
• Beds and mattresses.

ANSWERED PRAYERS:
MANUEL BONGA – We thank you for your prayers to Manuel Bonga’s visa. He has been trying to come to Angola for 5 years and his visa was approved in Zambia 2 weeks ago. He must come as soon as he has his visa stamped in his passaport. Please, pray for finances to cover his visa expenses and travel to Angola with his two children.

ELECTIONS –We also thank for your prayers for the elections. They were pacific and everything went well. We keep on praying for the presidential elections next year.

Chegamos novamente aquela epoca do ano em que a agua torna-se mais procurada....Os pocos se secam, os riachos se tornam um aglomerado de bacias e baldes, todo mundo tentando tentando conseguir um pouco do precioso liquido...
Quem dera que a busca por Deus fosse como essa busca desesperada pela agua! Quem dera a busca pela Palavra fosse como uma necessidade primaria, assim como a agua e!
E engracado que nao valorizamos tanto assim agua quando a temos abundantemente nas torneiras! Mas quando ela falta em nossas bacias, em nossas casas-de-banho, em nossas plantas, que ja secaram ou estao secando, nos damos conta de quao preciosa ela e! Que nao possamos ser assim com Deus: nos acomodarmos pelo fato de sabermos que Ele sempre esta ali e nos deixamos de nos encantar a cada dia pela bencao de saber que Ele e a nossa primeira necessidade!

ESCOLA DE TREINAMENTO E DISCIPULADO – ETED- Nesta escola de treinamento temos cinco alunos:
Augusto, Elias (acima). Osorio, Carol e Manuel. Eles representam cinco denominacoes e apenas Elias e de Huambo. Tem sido uma ETED unica, pois vemos que a obra de Deus na vida deles ja tem sido e sera grandiosa! Eles tiveram tres meses de aulas teoricas, tiveram varios professors que falaram sobre conhecimento de Deus, da Sua palavras, Batalha Espiritual, Evangelismo, Perdao e outras. Nestes ultimos dois meses eles estarao viajando para o Kunene (extremo sul) onde estarao servindo a nossa equipe que trabalha com os povos Himba e Dimba, por dez dias. Dali seguirao para a cidade de Menongue, onde uma equipe, liderada pela obreira Maria da Conceicao (Sao) estara servindo a Igreja Assembleia de Deus Pentecostal por seis semanas.
A outra equipe, liderada pelo obreiro Iury Hermegildo (Gildo) estara seguindo para o Moxico, em Cuito-Cuanavale, onde estarao servindo a Igreja Ev. Baptista tambem por seis semanas. Pedimos suas oracoes por eles e que eles sejam instrumentos de Deus para a salvacao de muitos.


Elias tem 29 anos, Foi soldado durante 5 anos e saiu da vida militar muito frustrado. Perdeu boa parte da sua agilidade de pensamento devido ao abuso de alcool e drogas, porem e humilde e disposto a aprender, cresceu muito espiritualmente e tem mostrado habilidade na evangelizacao de criancas. Quando pensamos no que ele foi no passado, e dificil crer que ele tem amor e paciencia com criancas e com todos nos aqui! O Evangelho nos da mesmo o ministerio da reconciliacao! Seu alvo e ser fiel a Deus e a Sua Palavra e ser util no Seu Reino. Louvamos ao senhor por essa vida sendo restaurada!

CONSTRUCAO – Tem sido uma grande alegria poder desfrutar daquilo que ja pudemos construir: dormitorios, cozinha, casa de hospedes, casa de obreiros. Cada um destes predios tem sido uma bencao par anos e parte de um todo que continuamos a sonhar. Ainda este ano queremos construir um escritorio. Precisamos de uma milagre, pois o cimento e artigo raro nestes dias e construtores ainda sao mais raros ainda...

APOIO A IGREJA –Um dos nossos alvos como missao e equipar a igreja. Temos tido muitas oportunidades nessa area e convites tem vindo de todo lado para falarmos em encontros, atividades recreativas, seminarios e mesmo para pregarmos em cultos dominicais, durante a semana e escola doininical. Temos visto nossa influencia de varias formas e nos alegramos em poder servir a Igreja.

OBREIRO EM DESTAQUE: MARIA DA CONCEICAO (Sao)
Ela tem 28 anos, fez sua ETED em 1998. E membro da Igreja ICEA, de Luanda e sua paixao e o Treinamento. Possui muitos dons, entre eles o de amar pessoas, ser uma boa administradora e excelente cozinheira!
Um dos seus objectivos e aprimorar seu ingles na Africa do Sul no proximo ano e usar essa lingua como um instrumento para evangelismo e discipulado.

...”DAS TAIS E O REINO.” – tivemos um tempo muito especial com as criancas da vizinhanca enquanto a ETED estava em seu periodo teorico. Todos os sabados cerca de 70 criancas vinham e tinham um tempo de louvor, palavra e brincadeiras. Elas foram desafiadas a seguir a receber a Jesus como seu Salvador e andar com Ele e tem sido muito bom poder ouvi-las contando pelas ruas os corinhos ensinados aqui e falando das historias que ouviram dos “tios” e “tias” da Jocum!

ESCOLA DE EVANGELISTAS RURAIS - Foi uma grande alegria para os 38 evangelistas das duas turmas receberem a sua bicicleta “Kinga 4x4”! E uma bicicleta chinesa, muito forte e facilitara o trabalho dos evangelistas nas areas rurais, onde o acesso e dificil e o unico transporte disponivel e a bicicleta. Temos noticias de muito mais eficiencia no trabalho deles depois de terem passado pelo curso de reciclagem. Louvado seja o Senhor!

NOTICIAS DAS TRIBOS - Nossos irmaos trabalhando entre os povos Himba e Dimba estao muito alegres, pois testemunharam a conversao do chefe do povo Dimba, que influenciou a conversao de outros homens da aldeia tambem. A maioria dos convertidos entre esse povo sao mulheres, portanto, a conversao do rei e um passo para os homens da tribo se converterem tambem. A equipe diz que ao discipular o rei, a sua grande preocupacao tem sido em como resolver os problemas da aldeia sem usar feiticaria. Oremos por ele!
Tambem no Kamukuio, nossos irmaos ali tem sido abencoados, pois ja tem a sua propriedade onde vai se construir o Centro de Treinamento. Trata-se de um terreno de 3 hectares, muito estrategico, onde sera construido o Centro contendo salas de aula para alfabetizacao de adultos, uma clinica de saude e um Centro de Treinamento Profissionalizante para os povos daquela regiao. Nosso missionario de Jocum ali, Inacio Fio, foi apontado como o vice-director do Gabinete Para o desenvimento Comunitario do municipio e cremos que o Senhor vai usa-lo grandemente ali como uma influencia para o governo.
Entre o povo Mukubal, liderado pelo missionario Sebastiao, ele tem feito diferenca no meio deste povo. Sebastiao tem aprendido a lingua e a cultura deste povo, tao primitivo e tao desinteressado pela modernidade! Feiticeiros tem lhe desafiado, mas os demonios nao tem tido autorizacao para atuar quando o Sebastiao esta por perto!
Seu alvo e comecar a evangelizar agora que ele ja fala a lingua e conhece seus costumes! Oremos por ele!

- por obreiros, principalmente para o evangelismo de criancas e treinamento em geral, vistos para brasileiros e interessados de outras nacoes);
